Liverpool 'could still sign Duje Caleta-Car on deadline day'

Liverpool may reportedly still attempt to sign Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car before the end of the January transfer window.

Liverpool may reportedly attempt to push through a deal for Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car on deadline day.

The Merseyside giants are putting the finishing touches to a proposal for Preston North End centre-back Ben Davies, who is due to undergo a medical at Anfield on Monday morning.

However, according to France Football, the Premier League champions have not given up hope of bringing in Caleta-Car.

The report claims that Marseille are attempting to secure a replacement for the 24-year-old before making a decision on his future.

The Croatia international has been a regular for the French outfit this season, making a total of 23 appearances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

With two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, Caleta-Car would cost considerably more than Davies, who is available for around £1.6m.
