Liverpool renew their interest in Spanish striker David Villa.

Liverpool are expected to renew their interest in Barcelona striker David Villa, according to reports.

The Reds were targeting the Spaniard prior to the 2010 World Cup, but the former Valencia man opted for the Camp Nou over Anfield, where he has gone on to score 22 goals in 47 appearances.

However, following the arrivals of Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas this summer, Villa has found he has had fewer first-team opportunities with the Catalan club.

Should Liverpool secure a top-four finish this season, manager Kenny Dalglish is expected to make the 29-year-old his number one target in the summer, according to The People.

Villa, who is under contract with the club until 2014, is believed to be priced at close to £40m.
