Liverpool 'reach £32.5m Christian Benteke agreement'

Christian Benteke will reportedly complete a £32.5m move to Liverpool from Aston Villa within the next 48 hours.

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Aston Villa over the £32.5m transfer of Christian Benteke, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, although it had been claimed that he was instead holding out for a move to Manchester United.

Fresh reports have suggested that the Belgian striker's switch to Liverpool is firmly on track, however, and a deal could go through in the next 48 hours.

It has been suggested by BBC Sport that the Reds' club doctor will now return to the UK from the team's tour of Australia in order to push through a medical.

Benteke has scored 49 goals in 101 appearances for Villa since joining from Genk in 2012.
