Liverpool are reportedly willing to meet Napoli's £65m asking price for centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Reds are rumoured to have had a bid knocked back for the Senegal international in the summer after falling short of Napoli's valuation.
However, with Virgil van Dijk expected to miss the remainder of the season with anterior cruciate ligament damage, Liverpool have had to step up their interest in a new defender.
According to Italian journalist Fabio Santini, Koulibaly remains the player the Premier League champions want to sign, though they may face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool are said to be prepared to spend big on the 29-year-old in the hope of beating French giants PSG to his signature.
Koulibaly has made 249 appearances for Napoli in six-and-a-bit seasons with the club, including three Serie A outings so far this term.
