Liverpool can sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus if they pay his full €40m (£34m) exit clause, according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly been told to fork out the full €40m (£34m) if they want to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus this summer.

With the Reds set to wave goodbye to Georginio Wijnaldum when his deal expires at the end of the season, Jurgen Klopp is thought to be prioritising midfield targets for the 2021-22 campaign.

Monchengladbach lynchpin Neuhaus has been touted as a possible replacement, although Monchengladbach can play hardball with his deal not due to expire until the summer of 2024.

The 24-year-old is thought to possess a €40m (£34m) release clause in his Monchengladbach contract, and Bild claims that Liverpool will need to cough up that amount of money if they want to prise him away from the Bundesliga.

The report adds that an exit is 'absolutely conceivable' for Neuhaus if his exit clause is met, and the player is keen to test himself at a new club.

The midfielder has enjoyed a fruitful campaign with Monchengladbach this term, scoring five goals and setting up six more in 32 Bundesliga appearances.
