Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah insists that this season is just the start of a long journey at Anfield, as he plays down talk of a summer switch to Real Madrid.

Mohamed Salah has reiterated that he is "very happy" at Liverpool and is just at the start of his Anfield career, amid ongoing links with a move to Real Madrid.

The Egypt international has lit up the Premier League in his maiden campaign on Merseyside, netting 31 times to lead the scoring charts heading into the final round of fixtures.

Salah has 42 goals to his name in all competitions and has seen his form rewarded with a clean sweep of individual awards, bagging both the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year and Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year gongs.

Following rumours that he is high on Madrid's transfer wishlist, the former Roma ace has stressed that he does not intend to quit Liverpool after just one season.

"I'm very happy here and everything is fine," he said when picking up his FWA trophy on Thursday night. "I have got ambitions for the future, with Liverpool.

"We had a great season and now we are in the Champions League final, and everyone is excited. It is just the start. This is my first year here and it is the same for some other players. We have had an unbelievable year. It is just the beginning.

"I am very happy to win these awards. I had a good season but, without the help of my teammates, it would have been very difficult. We all try to help each other. We all try to give more and we all try to push each other.

"We are a team who fight for each other every day. I work hard to help my team. Now I want to finish the season in a good way."

Salah has failed to find the back of the net in any of his last three outings, stretching back to the 5-2 win over Roma in the Champions League on April 24.
