Gus Poyet "confident" Sunderland will sign Liverpool's Fabio Borini

Gus Poyet is "confident" that Fabio Borini will agree to join Sunderland from Liverpool this summer.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet believes that the club will secure the signature of Liverpool forward Fabio Borini, despite the player having yet to agree a deal.

Liverpool accepted a fee reported to be in the region of £14m for Borini, who spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light.

Despite the Reds' willingness to let the forward leave Anfield, the player himself has not agreed terms with the North-East outfit.

"We're still waiting," Goal.com quotes Poyet as saying. "There's no more than last week, no more than next week. We're waiting but it's still ongoing. I'm still confident it will happen."

Borini found the back of the net 10 times for Sunderland last season.
