A report claims that Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum could be at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Real Madrid have reportedly joined bitter rivals Barcelona in showing an interest in Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Netherlands international is into the final seven months of his Anfield contract and has indicated that talks over fresh terms have reached an impasse.

Barca boss Ronald Koeman, who managed Wijnaldum for the Dutch national side, has confirmed on numerous occasions that he is interested in signing his compatriot.

However, Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport suggests that the Catalan giants may face competition from Madrid for the 30-year-old.

Zinedine Zidane is said to be after midfield reinforcements and is keen on Wijnaldum, who is thought to be seeking a new challenge in 2021.
