Ian Rush: 'Crucial for Liverpool to recruit players this summer'

Ian Rush believes that it will be an important summer in the transfer window for Liverpool.

Former Liverpool striker Ian Rush has claimed that it is an important summer in the transfer window for his old employers.

Brendan Rodgers is expected to be busy recruiting players ahead of next season, and Rush believes that it is crucial for the Reds boss to add more depth to his squad as they prepare to return to the Champions League.

"With the Champions League, I am sure they will be looking at every department to strengthen," the club's all-time leading goalscorer told Sky Sports News.

"What do you do if Luis Suarez or Daniel Sturridge gets injured?

"It also depends on who is available at what price. I am sure Brendan will be looking at every angle."

Reports on Thursday suggested that Liverpool were closing in on a move for Southampton forward Rickie Lambert.
