Report: Sunderland to sign Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori on loan

Sunderland are reportedly considering a move to sign Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori on loan for the season, after having an approach for the player turned down in June.

Sunderland are reportedly considering a loan move for Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Hampstead, signed for the Reds from Sporting Lisbon in 2013.

The Portuguese Under-21 international is yet to make a competitive appearance for Liverpool, and spent last season on loan at Bordeaux.

According to The Mirror, Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat will make a final attempt to bring the youngster to the Stadium of Light for the season, after an initial approach was turned down in June.

Ilori made 12 appearances at Bordeaux, scoring one goal.
