Pep Guardiola impressed by Napoli display

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits that Napoli are "one of the best teams" that he has faced in his career following their 2-1 win over the Serie A leaders.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that Napoli are "one of the best teams" that he has faced in his career.

The Citizens claimed a 2-1 victory over the Partenopei in Tuesday night's Champions League encounter at the Etihad Stadium, but were given a hard game by the Serie A leaders.

Early goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus put the hosts into a commendable lead, but Dries Mertens had a penalty saved by Ederson and Amadou Diawara's spot kick made it a tense finale.

"It was an amazing game. Outstanding. Both wanted to play against high pressing," Guardiola told BT Sport after the game.

"Napoli are one of the best teams I have faced in my career. If you are not aggressive without the ball you have no chance to survive.

"The situation is that we go to the next game and try to win that. We are close but it is not already done. We need one more victory to qualify."

City currently top Group F with nine points from their three games and will take on Napoli at the San Paolo on November 1.
