Burnley manager Sean Dyche has praised his side's performance in their FA Cup tie with Manchester City, despite the Clarets suffering a 4-1 defeat at the Etihad.

Striker Ashley Barnes put Burnley in front, but Sergio Aguero's brace had City in the lead before Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva added further goals for Pep Guardiola's men.

Dyche, who highlighted his opponents' first goal as the match's turning point, was left frustrated after his side dropped off following Aguero's equaliser.

"I thought we were very good until they scored their first - a very contentious goal - and then we looked a bit punch drunk," the manager told reporters. "It all changed very quickly and my only gripe is how quickly we switched off after the first goal.

"It is a strange one today. You come away from a result like that and the scoreline doesn't suggest how the game went. There were so many good things from us today."

Burnley's next test is a Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace next Saturday.
