Half-Time Report: Manchester City cruising against 10-man West Bromwich Albion

Wilfried Bony and Fernando give Manchester City a 2-0 lead over 10-man West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City have headed into half time with a 2-0 lead over 10-man West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League this afternoon.

There was controversy just over a minute into the match when Gareth McAuley was sent off in what appeared to be a case of mistaken identity, following a Craig Dawson challenge on Wilfried Bony.

Playing against a side down to 10 men, Man City soon started to dominate, with Frank Lampard testing Boaz Myhill with a drive from outside the box, while Bony and David Silva also linked up before the latter was crowded out.

The home side's first real chance came with just under 20 minutes on the clock as Sergio Aguero cued the ball up for Lampard, who had space in front of him, but his finish was a fraction wide.

The defending Premier League champions made their man advantage count with just under half an hour played when Bony picked out the top corner following a run from Fernando, scoring his first goal for the club since his move from Swansea City.

City soon had chances to double their advantage, but Gael Clichy missed the target, while Myhill diverted a Navas strike away at full stretch.

The Baggies were slow to clear a ball into the box shortly before the interval, with Jonas Olsson leaving the ball for Fernando to tap past Myhill, doubling the home side's lead.
