Wednesday's Manchester City transfer talk news roundup: Ferran Torres, Leroy Sane, Joao Felix

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Manchester City on Wednesday, August 5.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Manchester City eye possible reinforcements.

The 2018-19 champions did not bring in a single player during the January transfer window, despite suffering a defensive shortage for much of the campaign so far, and will now be looking to strengthen as they look to regain their title.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Etihad.

Manchester City have completed the signing of 20-year-old winger Ferran Torres from Valencia.

The Spaniard has signed a five-year contract which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2025 in a deal worth a reported £20.8m.

Torres joins the former Premier League champions as a replacement for Leroy Sane, who left for Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

"I am so happy to be joining City. Every player wants to be involved in attacking teams and Manchester City are one of the most attacking in world football," Torres told the club's official website.

"Pep [Guardiola] encourages a really open, aggressive style, which I love, and he is a manager with a proven track record of improving players. To have him overseeing my development is a dream.

"City have won plenty of trophies in the last 10 years and I hope I can play a role in continuing that success."

Director of football Txiki Begiristain added: "We have followed Ferran's progress closely and have been very impressed.

"He is young and still developing, but his technical qualities are exactly what we are looking for in a winger. He is quick, direct, can create space with one movement and is capable of producing match-winning moments.

"I feel this is the perfect place for him to develop and with Pep in charge he can take his game to the next level."

Torres scored six goals and created eight more in 44 appearances across all competitions this season.

Manchester City make Joao Felix enquiry?

Manchester City have reportedly made contact with Atletico Madrid over the availability of Portuguese forward Joao Felix.

Atletico forked out a staggering £113m when they secured Felix's signature from Benfica last summer, but the 20-year-old has failed to hit the ground running in the Spanish capital.

Felix amassed just six goals and one assist from 27 appearances during the 2019-20 La Liga campaign, and the forward could supposedly be looking at an early departure from the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to The Athletic, Man City have touched base with Atletico as they look to reignite their interest in Felix, who ultimately made the switch to Spain from Benfica after City failed to trigger the attacker's release clause.

The report claims that Pep Guardiola could have a transfer budget of £300m to work with this summer, in spite of the financial problems arising from the coronavirus pandemic.

A swoop for Felix would undoubtedly cost City a hefty chunk of their war chest, though, with the former Benfica man under contract at Atletico until 2026.
