Kevin De Bruyne excited by prospect of Leroy Sane link-up

Kevin De Bruyne talks up the potential of Manchester City recruit Leroy Sane, who he believes "can shine with my assists" this coming season.

Manchester City attacker Kevin De Bruyne has backed new signing Leroy Sane to "shine" in his maiden Premier League campaign.

The 20-year-old signed for the Citizens from Schalke 04 earlier this month in a £37m deal, joining De Bruyne in swapping Germany for England.

De Bruyne enjoyed an impressive first season at the Etihad Stadium when scoring 16 goals in all competitions last time out, and the Belgium international is now hoping to link up with his incoming teammate in an attempt to fire City to the title.

"Leroy Sane is a class player. I want him to shine with my assists," he told Sport Bild. "My aim is the title. To reach this it's important we have new players like Sane or [Ilkay] Gundogan.

"Manchester United is strong again with [Paul] Pogba and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic. Players like these help the league. But I think Chelsea and Arsenal will be strong, too."

Sane was involved in more goals than any other player under 21 in Germany's top flight in the 2015-16 campaign.
