Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso admits that Kalidou Koulibaly, who continues to be linked with Manchester City, could leave the club this summer.

Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso has admitted that Kalidou Koulibaly could leave the club before the end of this summer's transfer window.

The Senegal international played the full 90 minutes as Napoli opened their 2020-21 Serie A campaign with a 2-0 victory away to Parma on Sunday night.

Manchester City continue to be linked with the central defender, but it remains to be seen whether the English giants can agree a fee for a player thought to be valued by his club in the region of £90m.

Gattuso is keen for Koulibaly to remain in Naples but has conceded that the 29-year-old will likely leave in the coming weeks if the Serie A side receive a suitable offer.

"He's a serious guy. If he'll leave I'll be sad because Koulibaly is a top player... it's a difficult moment in football and you've to consider important bids. But if he'll stay, I'll be happy," Gattuso told reporters.

The centre-back has a contract with Gli Azzurri until the summer of 2023.
