Pep Guardiola believes he still has a "long time" remaining on his Manchester City contract and feels his long-term future at the Etihad Stadium will 'depends on results'.

The 51-year-old has just under 18 months remaining on his current deal, though first-team players are reportedly expecting the Spaniard to extend his stay with the club.

Speaking to the press ahead of Wednesday night's Premier League encounter with Brentford, Guardiola said: "I'm here six years because we won a lot. I came because many people convinced me. It [staying longer] depends on the results. No more than that.

"I have one and a half years left on my contract, which is a long time when you look around at world football."

Guardiola has excelled at Man City since joining the club in the summer of 2016, winning 10 trophies including three Premier League titles, but success with the Citizens in the Champions League still eludes him.

City are on course to clinch a fourth top-flight crown under the Spaniard's tutelage, as they currently sit nine points clear at the summit, though Liverpool in second do have a game in hand.
