Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has bemoaned his side's failure to capitalise on Manchester United's loss to Blackburn Rovers.
Mancini's team would have gone three points clear of United at the top of the Premier League table with a victory over Sunderland this afternoon, but they slipped to a stoppage-time defeat at the Stadium of Light.
"We deserved to win this game," Mancini told BBC Radio Five Live. "It's incredible. This is football.
"I don't know how many chances we had. A team like us can't concede a goal on the counter-attack at the end.
"We missed a big opportunity today because we had a chance to go three points on Manchester United. We are probably in an unlucky moment because we missed all these chances to score."
City are currently five goals better off than United.
