Nigel Pearson fears Manchester City backlash

Nigel Pearson believes that Leicester City could face a backlash when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to meet Manchester City on Wednesday.

Nigel Pearson has admitted that Leicester City could be the victims of a Manchester City backlash when the two sides meet at the Etihad Stadium.

Manuel Pellegrini's side suffered a damaging defeat in their bid to retain the Premier League title by losing 2-1 to Liverpool on Sunday, and Pearson believes that there could be extra motivation for the hosts to return to form on Wednesday evening.

"Do I expect any backlash or do I take encouragement from their recent results? I think a bit of both," the Foxes boss told reporters.

"On their day they are an outstanding side. I think it always interests me to see how perceptions change.

"The pressures they will be under now are similar to the ones we experienced last season. There is an expectation to win trophies."

Leicester are currently seven points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table.
