Manuel Pellegrini not feeling pressure to deliver trophies

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini insists that he is not feeling under pressure to deliver trophies for the club.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that he is not under pressure to win trophies for the club.

The Premier League champions currently sit five points behind leaders Chelsea in the table, while their hopes of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals hang in the balance following a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona last week.

Despite a struggle for consistent form both domestically and in Europe, Pellegrini is feeling relaxed about his side's fortunes.

"I never have any pressure about the amount of titles. The only pressure for me is when I see my team not playing in the way I want them to play," the Chilean is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"I repeat, when I signed my contract I was not told I had to win one title every year or five in five years. The title is important but not the only important thing."

The Blues continue the defence of their Premier League title on Wednesday when they welcome Leicester City to the Etihad Stadium.
