Departing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini tells the club's supporters that he will "never forget" them after taking charge of his last home match.

Outgoing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has told the club's supporters that he will "never forget" them after taking charge of his last home match.

Pellegrini, who will be replaced by Pep Guardiola this summer, did not get the result he wanted this afternoon as Arsenal twice pegged back his side to draw at the Etihad.

The draw comes four days after City lost to Real Madrid in their first Champions League semi-final, and now the door is open for Manchester United to sneak ahead of City into the top four if they win their last two matches of the season.

"Not winning this game is not the way we wanted to finish the season," Pellegrini said. "We want to qualify for next year's Champions League.

"For me it's been three wonderful, unforgettable years. Thanks to the fans for all, I will never forget you. Don't change, because this team needs you and I'm sure next year you will do well in all competitions."

Pellegrini won three trophies – the Premier League and two League Cups – during his three-year reign.
