Samir Nasri: 'Raheem Sterling doesn't scare me'

Samir Nasri says that the arrival of Raheem Sterling at Manchester City will only force him to up his game.

Manchester City winger Samir Nasri has insisted that he does not feel under threat by the arrival of Raheem Sterling.

Earlier this week, City wrapped up a £49m deal for the former Liverpool winger, with centre-midfielder Fabian Delph soon following from Aston Villa.

Sterling's arrival has plunged Nasri's future at Eastlands into doubt, but the Frenchman, who reminded manager Manuel Pellegrini of his qualities with a volley in the friendly win over Melbourne, says that he will fight for his place.

"I have never been scared of anyone and it is not today that I am going to be scared of anyone," Nasri told reporters.

"Everyone has to raise their levels. Everyone. It is not about one player, it is about the whole team, especially when you are like us and you had a bad year.

"Raheem is one of the hottest prospects in the world of football. If you are looking at how we are playing in the first two games of pre-season with 4-3-3, he is a winger that can bring speed for us and score goals."

On Saturday, Sterling, whose departure from the Reds was shrouded in controversy, revealed that he regretted the way in which he left Anfield.
