David Silva happy to see Manuel Pellegrini stay on as Manchester City boss

Manchester City playmaker David Silva explains why he is happy to see Manuel Pellegrini retain his job as manager.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva has said that he is pleased to see Manuel Pellegrini kept on as manager of the club.

The Spanish playmaker, who will link up with the rest of his teammates in Australia next week, said that he was happy Pellegrini retained his job, despite finishing behind Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table last term.

"It is good that we are keeping our coach," he told Sky Sports News. "He is a coach who really wants to attack and fight for the title. That is really good, and that is what we want to see.

"Every year it is very difficult, there are very good teams, the conditions are hard and every game is a high level, so we just have to do our best."

City begin their new campaign with a visit to West Bromwich Albion on August 8.
