Manchester City go top with narrow Swansea City win

Manchester City go top of the Premier League with a 3-2 win away to Swansea City.

Manchester City have squeezed past Swansea City with a 3-2 win at the Liberty Stadium to go top of the Premier League.

Wilfried Bony cancelled out Fernandinho's 15th-minute opener on the stroke of half time when he headed home Jonathan de Guzman's cross after getting in behind Vincent Kompany.

City restored their lead just before the hour mark when Yaya Toure hit a powerful low effort across Gerhard Tremmel and into the far corner.

Manuel Pellegrini's side extended their advantage on 65 minutes when Aleksandar Kolarov escaped down the left before cutting in on his unfavoured right to score his first Premier League goal for over a year.

Bony narrowed the deficit in injury time when he fizzed an effort beyond Joe Hart in the pouring rain to set up a nervy final few minutes for the visitors.

However, City held on to leapfrog Arsenal at the top of the division.
