Barcelona have halted their plans to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, according to a report.
The England international has been linked with a move to La Liga, with his current contract at the Etihad Stadium expiring in 2023.
Reports have suggested that Sterling is keen to leave Man City, who value him at £45m, following a frustrating start to the campaign.
However, according to AS, Barcelona have taken a step back from transfer planning as new manager Xavi wants to take time to assess the squad that he currently has.
The report adds that the Spaniard does not want to make any impulsive decisions and is keen to give current Barca players a fair chance before he turns to the transfer market.
Sterling has made 15 appearances for Man City this season, but only found the back of the net on two occasions.
