Manchester City have reportedly identified Barcelona starlet Nico Gonzalez as a potential transfer target.
The 20-year-old has become a regular part of the Blaugrana's setup in the 2021-22 campaign, registering two goals and two assists in 28 appearances from the middle of the park.
Gonzalez has reportedly attracted the attention of as many as five European clubs with his performances this term, and his deal at Barcelona is due to expire in the summer of 2024.
Now, The Sun reports that Pep Guardiola has earmarked Gonzalez as an ideal addition to the Etihad ranks, with the City boss enjoying a strong relationship with the midfielder's father from their playing careers.
The report adds that Gonzalez does possess a £500m release clause in his Barca contract, but the Catalans could be pressured to sell if they cannot reach an agreement over improved terms on his existing £10k-per-week contract.
The La Masia graduate has started 11 La Liga matches for Barcelona this season and also has two caps to his name for Spain's Under-21s.
