Manchester City 'plotting £200m spending spree'

Man City are ready to spend £200m this summer as they seek to overhaul their squad, according to a report.

Manchester City are reportedly planning to spend up to £200m this summer as they look to overhaul their squad.

The Blues were knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of Barcelona last week and, with Chelsea ahead in the Premier League title race, the current champions could be facing a season without silverware.

According to the Daily Star, City are confident that they can splash the cash in the next transfer window without breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

It is thought that manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen to sign a number of players, which will be funded with the sale of existing squad members and improved club finances, with the club poised to announce a turnover of around £400m.

Among the list of City stars said to be at risk of being sold are Stevan Jovetic, Samir Nasri, Aleksandar Kolarov, Edin Dzeko and influential midfielder Yaya Toure.

The Premier League champions are rumoured to be eyeing a £30m move for Wolfsburg's Kevin de Bruyne, while Jack Wilshere, Paul Pogba, Koke and Monaco left-back Layvin Kurzawa are thought to be on their wishlist.

The Citizens are also thought to be monitoring Raheem Sterling's contract stand-off at Liverpool and are believed to be considering replacing out-of-contract midfielder James Milner with £25m-rated Ross Barkley from Everton.
