Manchester City are said to be preparing a bid to sign Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell.
City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to begin a sustained effort to recruit young, domestic talent by adding Rodwell to his squad, according to The Mirror.
Toffees manager David Moyes is desperate to keep the England international and values Rodwell at over £20m.
The 20-year-old is the latest player to be linked with a move to the Etihad this summer, following Robin van Persie, Daniel Agger and Scott Sinclair into the rumour mill.
City will reportedly face competition in an attempt to sign Rodwell from Manchester United, with Sir Alex Ferguson said to be a big admirer of the talented youngster.
