Maicon is "happy" at Manchester City and wants to stay at the Premier League club next season, claims the defender's father.

Manchester City defender Maicon will not leave the club at the end of the season, according to his father.

The former Inter Milan right-back has been linked with a move to Brazil in the summer, with Atletico Mineiro reportedly interested in his services.

"I received calls from Belo Horizonte (where Mineiro is based) asking if Maicon is there but he is in England," Manoel Sisenando told Lancenet.

"I'm not aware of any Atletico Mineiro interest for my son. He is happy at the club and has a contract until 2015. He was playing for the youth team to be match fit as he got injured recently.

"It's complicated to say what will happen but for now his focus is on City. But we know how dynamic football is."

Maicon, who joined City from Inter last summer, has made 11 appearances for the Premier League champions so far this season.
