Manchester City considered moving for Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku over the summer, according to a report.

Manchester City reportedly considered moving for Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku during the recent transfer window but were put off by the Italian club's valuation.

The Citizens are expected to be in the market for a new forward over the next six months or so as they prepare to replace Sergio Aguero, who could leave on a free transfer next summer.

According to The Telegraph, Pep Guardiola's side identified Lukaku as a potential acquisition but were told by Inter that it would take a bid of close to £94m to sign him.

The Belgium international joined Antonio Conte's side from Manchester United in 2019 and has been in excellent form since his arrival in Italy, scoring 43 times in 60 appearances in all competitions.

Lukaku has already managed nine goals in nine outings at club level this term, while the 27-year-old netted 113 times in 252 Premier League appearances during his time in England.

Benfica's Darwin Nunez has allegedly now emerged as a target for the Citizens.
