Manchester City have reportedly dropped their interest in Toni Kroos after learning the weekly pay-packet that the German collects at Real Madrid.
It had been claimed that the Premier League side were preparing a £50m move for the 26-year-old, who played under new Man City boss Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.
However, according to The Sun, Man City are not prepared to improve the midfielder's £240,000 a week salary and have therefore dropped their interest ahead of the new campaign.
Kroos was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United before joining Real Madrid in 2014, where he has scored three times in 99 appearances over the course of two seasons.
