Report: Everton want Manchester City to pay £50m for John Stones

Manchester City want Everton defender John Stones, but would have to pay the Goodison Park club around £50m for the England international, according to reports.

Everton have told Manchester City that defender John Stones will cost them £50m, according to reports.

The 22-year-old caught the eye of a number of major clubs in recent transfer windows but endured a poor season domestically as his Toffees side limped to an 11th-place finish last term.

According to BBC Sport, new Man City manager Pep Guardiola is keen to make Stones his next high-profile transfer of the summer, but the Merseyside club are refusing to let him go for cheap.

The Citizens have already signed Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito from Borussia Dortmund and Celta Vigo respectively during the close season.
