Javi Martinez puts pen to paper on a five-year contract at Bayern Munich from Athletic Bilbao.

Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez has finalised a switch to Bayern Munich on a five-year deal.

The 23-year-old, who was previously touted as a target for Premier League champions Manchester City, has completed a move to the German outfit, despite Bilbao claiming that the Spaniard was not authorised to meet with the club.

While doubts were raised over the possibility of the deal going through, it has now been made official that Martinez has signed a long-term contract.

The Spain international spent six years with Bilbao before opting for a move to the Bundesliga.
