Manchester City have reportedly received a major boost in their pursuit of Kevin de Bruyne, following the breakdown in contract talks with current club Wolfsburg.
The 23-year-old, who contributed 30 goals in the Bundesliga last season, was expected to sign a lucrative new deal at the German club this week.
However, The Telegraph claims that the Belgium international has yet to agree fresh terms, which has put City boss Manuel Pellegrini on alert.
De Bruyne is thought to be rated at around £36m on the back of a stellar personal campaign, although Wolfsburg have made it known in recent weeks that they do not intend to let the winger leave this summer.
City are said to have had a second bid for Liverpool star Raheem Sterling turned down earlier this week.
