Sergio Aguero to sign Manchester City contract extension?

Sergio Aguero will reportedly commit himself to a new deal with Manchester City, despite recently suggesting that he will leave in 2019.

Sergio Aguero is reportedly on the verge of signing an extension to his deal with Manchester City, despite recently stating his intention to leave in 2019.

In an interview with Independiente en la Uno last week, the 27-year-old outlined his intention to return to former club Independiente when his current deal with City expires in 2019.

According to The Mirror, City had been negotiating new terms with Aguero for some time and had hoped to announce a deal on the morning of the League Cup before talks broke down.

City spoke to Aguero and his agent after his alleged comments but were told that what he had said was "taken out of context" and that he plans to sign a contract extension "once small details have been finalised".

Aguero has scored 94 goals in 141 league appearances, including 16 this term, in his five years with City.
