Yaya Toure admits that a switch to Serie A at the end of the season should not be ruled out, as he prepares to bring his Manchester City career to an end.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has refused to rule out a move to Italian football before bringing an end to his career, admitting that he has previously been in contact with Serie A clubs.

The 34-year-old, strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan during former City boss Roberto Mancini's time in charge at San Siro, is now into the final seven months of his Etihad Stadium contract.

Toure has slipped down the pecking order this campaign, making just two starts - both in the EFL Cup - and is widely expected to move on next summer.

Asked by La Gazzetta dello Sport about any interest from Italian sides, the Ivorian said: "In the past there have been several contacts with Italian football.

"But then I have followed different and important paths like those of Barcelona and Manchester City. But never say never in life."

Toure has won five major honours during his seven years as a City player, including two Premier League titles.
