Saturday's FA Cup predictions including Manchester United vs. Watford

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Saturday's FA Cup third round fixtures, including Manchester United vs. Watford.

Everton vs. Rotherham (Saturday, 12.00pm)

Gylfi Sigurdsson celebrates scoring for Everton against Sheffield United in the Premier League on December 26, 2020© Reuters

Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that Everton's FA Cup third-round game against Rotherham United this weekend is the start of a journey to the club's first piece of silverware since 1995.

The Italian has told media in his homeland that the competition is a "prestigious trophy" and that "we want to honour it in the best way possible".

We say: Everton 3-0 Rotherham United

Even if Everton do name a much-changed side, they are still likely to find this game fairly straightforward and the chance of an upset seems low. Rotherham are struggling for form and will see the cup only as a distraction from their relegation battle in the Championship.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Nott'm Forest vs. Cardiff (Saturday, 12.00pm)

Chris Hughton pictured in charge of Nottingham Forest on October 17, 2020© Reuters

Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City will welcome the chance to put disappointing Championship campaigns behind them when they face off in the FA Cup third round this weekend.

The second-tier rivals have won just 13 out of 45 league games between them this term, but something has to give at the City Ground on Saturday lunchtime.

We say: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Cardiff City

Cardiff enter this game on the back of three successive league defeats, while Forest have gone five without defeat, winning two of those.

The Bluebirds have a knack of winning at the City Ground, though, and we can see them picking up a third-round victory on Saturday.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

Luton vs. Reading (Saturday, 12.00pm)

Luton Town's Glen Rea celebrates scoring against Bristol City in the Championship on December 29, 2020© Reuters

Luton Town and Reading will face each other for the third time this season when they meet in the FA Cup third round this weekend.

Both previous games have been played at the Madejski Stadium - the Hatters won the League Cup fixture in September 1-0, while the Royals were 2-1 victors in the Championship on Boxing Day.

We say: Luton Town 2-1 Reading

Luton are likely to rotate far less than Reading, and Jones will be eager for revenge after defeat in Berkshire on Boxing Day, meaning we think the Hatters will progress from this tie. There will be several Reading players eager to impress, though, and they could take it to extra-time.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

Norwich vs. Coventry (Saturday, 12.00pm)

Norwich City's Emiliano Buendia celebrates scoring their first goal against Barnsley on January 2, 2021© Reuters

Norwich City host Coventry City on Saturday lunchtime in one of five all-Championship meetings in the FA Cup third round.

The Canaries are currently top of the second tier, while the Sky Blues are 16th, with the league meeting between the two sides earlier in the campaign ending 1-1.

We say: Norwich City 1-2 Coventry City

With his focus on earning promotion from the Championship, Farke does not seem too concerned about winning this game; it is likely to be a makeshift Canaries side and that could allow Coventry the opportunity to progress to the next round.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Boreham Wood vs. Millwall (Saturday, 12.00pm)

Millwall's Jed Wallace celebrates scoring against Reading in the Championship on November 25, 2020© Reuters

National League side Boreham Wood host Championship outfit Millwall in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, with the two sides facing each other for the very first time.

The Wood are making their first ever appearance at this stage of the competition and welcome the Lions who have progressed to the fourth round in each of the last four seasons.

We say: Boreham Wood 0-2 Millwall

The respective strength of the two squads would suggest that Millwall would be the strong favourites for this contest. However, shock results in fixtures like these are why the FA Cup has such a special reputation. Boreham Wood are expected to work tirelessly and make themselves difficult for Millwall to break down, but the Lions should ultimately have enough quality to pull through and advance to the next round.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.

Chorley vs. Derby (Saturday, 12.15pm)

Chorley players celebrate after Connor Hall scores against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on November 8, 2020© Reuters

National League North side Chorley host Championship outfit Derby County in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, with the visitors expected to field a youth side due to a coronavirus outbreak at the club.

The Magpies, who have never faced the Rams in a competitive match, are unbeaten in their last three home games, while Derby lost their 11th league match of the season last Friday away at Sheffield Wednesday.

We say: Chorley 1-0 Derby County

Chorley may feel they will never have a better chance of claiming an enormous scalp against Championship opposition this weekend and a place in the fourth round. With the visitors set to name an inexperienced and youthful side, the Magpies may just edge what should be a close encounter.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Oldham vs. Bournemouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Oldham Athletic manager Harry Kewell pictured in October 2020© Reuters

Oldham Athletic manager Harry Kewell is keen to "create a bit of magic" and cause an upset in the FA Cup third round this weekend when his team host Bournemouth.

There are 59 league places between the Latics, who are 14th in League Two, and the Cherries, who sit third in the Championship.

We say: Oldham Athletic 1-2 Bournemouth

There is certainly potential for a shock here, given that Bournemouth are unlikely to place too much emphasis on the FA Cup this season. However, Tindall will be keen to keep momentum going with a win, and the Cherries should sneak through against an Oldham side who have proven to be inconsistent this season.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.

Stevenage vs. Swansea (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Swansea City's Jamal Lowe celebrates scoring their first goal against Watford on January 2, 2021© Reuters

Swansea City travel to the Lamex Stadium on Saturday afternoon for an FA Cup third-round tie with Stevenage.

The Swans are flying high in the Championship and enter this game as strong favourites against a Stevenage side sitting 22nd in League Two.

We say: Stevenage 1-3 Swansea City

Swansea's main focus this season will be on earning promotion to the Premier League, but this favourable third-round tie presents Cooper's men with a chance to keep their momentum going.

Stevenage are at risk of dropping out of the Football League, though they have won back-to-back matches and an upset cannot be completely ruled out this weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Bristol Rovers vs. Sheff Utd (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder pictured on January 2, 2021© Reuters

Premier League outfit Sheffield United head into their FA Cup third round tie at Bristol Rovers still looking for their first win of the season in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Rovers, who sit in 18th position in League One, have reached this stage of the FA Cup with victories over Walsall and Darlington.

We say: Bristol Rovers 1-3 Sheffield United

Several factors are in Rovers' favour heading into this contest, including five wins coming from seven matches. However, despite their abysmal form in the Premier League, it would come as a surprise if the Blades do not battle their way to victory on Saturday.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Blackburn vs. Doncaster (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray pictured on October 17, 2020© Reuters

Blackburn Rovers welcome League One outfit Doncaster Rovers on Saturday as they begin their FA Cup campaign - a competition that has not brought them much success in recent years.

Doncaster overcame Carlisle United in the last round, winning a tight encounter 2-1 thanks to a double from Ben Whiteman.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Doncaster Rovers

Despite Donny's strong showing in the league so far this season, we suspect that it might not be enough to get past Blackburn, who boast much attacking threat in the final third. We expect Mowbray's men to come through this one and move on to the next round for the first time in four years.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Stoke vs. Leicester (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Leicester City's James Maddison celebrates scoring against Newcastle United in the Premier League on January 3, 2021© Reuters

Premier League high-fliers Leicester City begin their FA Cup campaign with an away match against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes make the trip to the bet365 Stadium sitting third in the top flight, while opponents Stoke are eighth in the Championship.

We say: Stoke City 0-2 Leicester City

Leicester are likely to heavily rotate their side for this third-round tie, but they boast a pretty strong squad these days and should be able to overcome whatever Stoke throw at them.

The last three meetings between the sides at the bet365 Stadium have all ended 2-2, though we are going with a routine away victory in this latest encounter.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Wycombe vs. Preston (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth pictured in September 2020© Reuters

Preston North End travel to struggling Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday as these two sides compete in one of five all-championship affairs across FA Cup weekend.

Both sides have struggled in cup competitions in recent years and will see this as an opportunity to set those poor records straight.

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 1-2 Preston North End

Regardless of whether Ainsworth chooses to rest players on Saturday, we see Preston having enough to secure passage to the fourth round. Though there will likely be tight opening exchanges, the Lilywhites' quality should prevail in a narrow win.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

Burnley vs. MK Dons (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Burnley manager Sean Dyche pictured during the EFL Cup clash with Millwall on September 23, 2020© Reuters

Burnley play host to MK Dons in the FA Cup third round looking to continue their excellent run of results from Premier League fixtures.

Meanwhile, the visitors, who are in 16th position in League One, have got the better of non-league Eastleigh and Barnet to earn a trip to Turf Moor.

We say: Burnley 3-0 MK Dons

In the event that Dyche rotates his squad, MK Dons will fancy their chances of causing an upset. However, the unexpected rest should benefit the Clarets, and we expect the Premier League side to cruise to victory at the weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

QPR vs. Fulham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Fulham manager Scott Parker pictured on November 22, 2020© Reuters

Queens Park Rangers and Fulham meet in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon with both clubs looking for a much-needed victory.

While the visitors have gone five games without success in the Premier League, QPR have recorded just one win in 12 fixtures in the Championship.

We say: Queens Park Rangers 1-3 Fulham

Despite the expected changes from both managers, we should still see an entertaining tussle between two motivated sides. However, the extra quality should come from the visitors, and it would come as a surprise if the Cottagers do not produce the goods in the final third.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

Exeter vs. Sheff Weds (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Callum Paterson celebrates scoring for Sheffield Wednesday against Derby County on January 1, 2021© Reuters

Exeter City look set to welcome Sheffield Wednesday to St James Park on Saturday despite Wednesday having to close down their Middlewood Road training ground following a COVID-19 scare at the club.

The Grecians will attempt to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup having booked their place in the last 64 by first beating Fylde 2-1, and then overcoming Gillingham 3-2 away from home.

For Wednesday, it will be their first outing in the FA Cup since being narrowly beaten by Manchester City in last season's competition.

We say: Exeter City 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday (Wednesday win on penalties)

It remains to be seen what kind of team Wednesday will be able to put out, and with that in mind, we are predicting a close game with goals at both ends. Come 5pm on Saturday, it could well be that these two sides cannot be separated, meaning that it could go all the way to penalties.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Blackpool vs. West Brom (Saturday, 3.00pm)

West Bromwich Albion manager Sam Allardyce pictured on December 20, 2020© Reuters

League One side Blackpool host Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, with the two sides facing each other in the competition for the first time since January 1978.

The Baggies have struggled in the top-flight this campaign and currently languish in the relegation zone, while the Tangerines sit 13th in the third tier and have won both of their FA Cup ties this season by an aggregate score of 7-0.

We say: Blackpool 1-2 West Bromwich Albion

The last nine meetings between the two sides have seen both teams score on each occasion and with the two clubs conceding a combined 62 times in the league this season, goals are to be expected on Saturday. Blackpool will fancy their chances against an out-of-form West Bromwich Albion side, but the Premier League outfit should have enough quality to progress to the next round.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

Arsenal vs. Newcastle (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta pictured on November 8, 2020© Reuters

Arsenal will be looking to book their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup when they welcome fellow Premier League side Newcastle United to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners will enter the match off the back of three straight Premier League victories, but Newcastle are winless in their last six matches in all competitions during a disappointing run.

We say: Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle United

Both managers are expected to make wholesale changes to their starting teams this weekend, but we are struggling to see anything other than a comfortable home win. Newcastle have really struggled in their recent games with the Gunners, who will enter the match in good confidence.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Huddersfield vs. Plymouth (Saturday, 6.00pm)

Huddersfield Town manager Carlos Corberan pictured in December 2020.© Reuters

Huddersfield Town play host to Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup third round on the back of losing two of their last three fixtures in the Championship.

Meanwhile, League One outfit Plymouth make the trip to the John Smith's Stadium courtesy of impressive victories over Charlton Athletic and Lincoln City.

We say: Huddersfield Town 2-1 Plymouth Argyle

The expected rotation from Corberan will throw up an opportunity for the visitors to cause another surprise in this competition. However, a Terriers second-string will be motivated to impress their manager, and we still expect the home side to edge their way past their next opponents.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or an away win.

Brentford vs. Middlesbrough (Saturday, 6.00pm)

Brentford manager Thomas Frank pictured on November 7, 2020© Reuters

Middlesbrough look set to travel to Brentford on Saturday despite the club announcing that they had suffered a COVID-19 outbreak earlier in the week.

Boro will play Brentford in what will be one of five all-Championship affairs in this weekend's FA Cup programme, and the first time these two sides have met in the competition since 1964 when Brentford progressed with a 2-1 win.

We say: Brentford 2-0 Middlesbrough

If the Boro squad outbreak is as bad as we are led to believe, it might be hard for them to put up much of a fight come Saturday. We expect a full-strength Brentford side to come out on top should Boro be missing key players. If Boro can, however, put out a competitive side, we expect it to be a much closer contest.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or draw.

Man Utd vs. Watford (Saturday, 8.00pm)

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pictured on January 1, 2021© Reuters

Manchester United will be looking to book their spot in the fourth round of this season's FA Cup when they welcome Championship side Watford to Old Trafford on Saturday night.

The Red Devils, who won the last of their 12 FA Cups in 2016, suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup on Wednesday, while Watford will enter the contest off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Swansea City in the Championship on January 2.

We say: Manchester United 3-1 Watford

Watford are certainly capable of making it a very uncomfortable 90 minutes for United, who will have one eye on their next league game at Burnley. The Red Devils have had their problems at Old Trafford this term, but we expect them to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 3-1 success.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.
