Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Derby County

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Thursday's FA Cup fifth-round tie with Derby County.

Manchester United face a reunion with their all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney on Thursday when taking on Derby County in the FA Cup fifth round.

The Red Devils have already overcome Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tranmere Rovers to remain on course for a record-equalling 13th success in the competition.

Despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Everton in the Premier League at the weekend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men enter this match with Derby in good form, unbeaten as they are in eight games.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the meeting at Pride Park.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: March 8 vs. (Manchester City)

Paul Pogba underwent ankle surgery in January and is believed to be entering the latter stages of his recovery. Recent reports suggest that the Frenchman is in contention to return against Manchester City on March 8, or more likely the trip to Tottenham Hotspur a week later.

Marcus Rashford

Possible return date: Unknown

Marcus Rashford has been sidelined since mid-January due to a double stress fracture in his back. Solskjaer has stressed that he will not rush the striker back, but reports indicate that he is ahead of schedule and should feature before the end of the season.

Lee Grant

Solskjaer revealed last month that number three goalkeeper Grant had undergone surgery on an unspecified injury. As a result, the 37-year-old will miss the next two to three months of the season.

Axel Tuanzebe

Axel Tuanzebe has been out with a hamstring problem since the middle of December, but is thought to be making solid progress in his recovery. The centre-back could come back into contention on Thursday.

Daniel James missed out on squad inclusion against Everton at the weekend due to a knock, though the injury is not expected to see him spend a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Possible return date: March 5 (vs. Derby County)

Timothy Fosu-Mensah has recovered from a cruciate knee ligament injury but is still regaining fitness with the Under-23s side. Speaking two weeks ago, the defender suggested that he would be back in first-team contention by the start of March.
