Ander Herrera excited by prospect of competing for the FA Cup

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera tells of his excitement at getting the chance to compete for the FA Cup next year.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has spoken of his excitement at getting the chance to compete for the FA Cup next year.

United will go into the third round having to face Yeovil Town as Louis van Gaal's charges look to end an 11-year drought, with their new Spanish signing revealing how the club is constantly reminded of the team's successes in previous years.

"I have seen on the walls at the Carrington training ground how many times we have won the FA Cup," said Herrera, according to the Manchester Evening News.

"It's an important competition for United but all the competitions are important for the club because we always want to win everything. It's different to the Spanish Cup because it's more about the knockout situation.

"In Spain we play two legs in the Cup, so I think it's good that it can be down to just one game here, it makes it very emotional. So I like the FA Cup and when I was in Spain I always watched it. It's a very interesting competition. Every team has a chance to win it, which is good. I want to play in this competition and it's a big chance for us to win a cup."

United currently occupy third position in the Premier League table and are on a run of six consecutive wins in the English top flight.
