Portugal and Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo will miss Euro 2020 this summer having tested positive for COVID-19.

Portugal and Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo has been ruled out of Euro 2020 after he tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

The 27-year-old scored and got an assist in Portugal's 4-0 victory against Israel last week during their warm-up friendly, and was due to be a regular starter in Fernando Santos's side this summer.

However, after rapid antigen tests carried out by the FPF Health and Performance Unit on Saturday, Cancelo will now spend the next 10 days in isolation.

The Daily Mail reports that the full-back is well but will be replaced by AC Milan loanee from Manchester United Diogo Dalot, who recently featured for Portugal's Under-21 side.

Dalot scored once and provided one assist in 21 Serie A appearances for AC Milan this season, after initially arriving at Old Trafford from Porto for £22m in 2018.

Portugal's defence of their Euro title begins on Tuesday against Hungary, followed by group games against Germany and France.
