Wayne Rooney suffers knee injury in Everton loss

Wayne Rooney is in danger of missing Manchester United's final four games with a knee injury.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that striker Wayne Rooney suffered a knee injury during their heavy defeat at Everton.

Goals from James McCarthy, John Stones and Kevin Mirallas earned the three points for the Toffees, and United's day got worse when their captain hobbled off late on.

Van Gaal told MUTV: "We have to wait and see how [serious] it is."

United have four games remaining this season, and host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

They currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.
