Manchester United duo Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford are both set to miss Wednesday's Premier League clash with Sheffield United.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has revealed that Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford are unlikely to be available for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Sheffield United.

McTominay was back from a two-game absence against Coventry City in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon, while Rashford was again named in the starting side for the semi-final.

Both players were forced off during the extraordinary last-four encounter, though, with Rashford leaving the field in the final stages of normal time, before McTominay limped off in the first half of extra-time.

Speaking during his press conference on Tuesday, Ten Hag revealed that both McTominay and Rashford were unlikely to be available for selection against the Blades.

However, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes should be fit despite picking up issues in Man United's penalty-shootout success, which booked a final spot against Manchester City.

"So we had a problem with [Alejandro] Garnacho, that's why we took him off during the game but I think he will be fine," Ten Hag told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

"Scott McTominay, we have to assess today. That is really doubtful. Marcus Rashford is also doubtful and then there was an issue with Bruno Fernandes, with the hand. But I think he can make it. So we have some doubts going into the game tomorrow."

Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane will again definitely be absent for Man United on Wednesday, while Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat and Willy Kambwala could remain on the sidelines.

Ten Hag also hit out at the criticism of his side following the clash against Coventry, with the Championship outfit coming from three goals behind in the latter stages to force extra-time and then having a goal disallowed in the final moments of the contest for offside.

Erik ten Hag slams criticism of his side after FA Cup semi-final

"In top football, it is about results and we made it to the final and we deserved it. Not only by this game but also the other games and we lost, in 20 minutes, control," he told reporters.

"Then also we had bad luck, 3-2, 3-3. We were very lucky in the end, [that is] clear. Penalties was very good and we made it to the final and that is a huge achievement. Twice in two years is magnificent.

"For me as a manager, four cup finals in four years. So the comments [from the media] are a disgrace."

Man United will take on Man City in the FA Cup final at the end of next month, but their attention will now be back on the Premier League, as they prepare to face Sheffield United, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion in their final six games of the season.

The 20-time English champions are currently seventh in the Premier League table, 16 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, albeit with two games in hand.
