Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester United could line up for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Sheffield United.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag could be forced to work around an unlucky 13 injured players for Wednesday's Premier League home clash with Sheffield United at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils return to their top-flight commitments on the back of an incredibly nervy penalty-shootout win over Coventry City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they let a 3-0 lead slip and were only spared the embarrassment of elimination in extra time by a tight VAR offside call.

All of Jonny Evans (muscle), Raphael Varane (muscle), Lisandro Martinez (calf), Victor Lindelof (hamstring), Luke Shaw (thigh), Tyrell Malacia (muscle) and Anthony Martial (groin) were known absentees, but Willy Kambwala, Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount all failed to make the cut due to unspecified issues of their own.

In addition, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford left the stadium worse for wear, while Harry Maguire made it through the entire 120 minutes but was not moving at all freely towards the end either.

Ten Hag did not provide an update on Maguire in his pre-game press conference, but 18-year-old Louis Jackson - who was on the bench at Wembley - should gear up for a possible senior debut alongside makeshift centre-back Casemiro in the middle of defence.

However, there is every chance that Maguire will be able to reprise his role in an unchanged backline, where he will link arms with Andre Onana, Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Ten Hag may avoid risking McTominay given the presence of Christian Eriksen, who could come in to partner the promising Kobbie Mainoo, as Bruno Fernandes pulls the strings from his advanced role as ever.

With Rashford also seen limping through the mixed zone, Ten Hag should give consideration to a recall for Antony, taking his spot in the attacking pack with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United possible starting lineup:
Onana; Dalot, Casemiro, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka; Mainoo, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund
