Manchester City showed that they would not surrender their Premier League title without a fight by claiming a 2-1 victory against leaders and rivals Manchester United this evening.
Second-half goals from James Milner and Sergio Aguero either side of an own goal from Vincent Kompany were enough for Roberto Mancini's men to steal the bragging rights.

Was the result fair?
There may have been 15 points separating these two teams before the start of play, but you wouldn't have known that on the evidence of today. United started well, but to use a football phrase, City 'did a job' on their rivals. They had more of the ball and got themselves in more dangerous areas.
Man United's performance
The Red Devils had a real chance to hammer home their advantage in the title race and they blew it. But for the first 20 minutes, they were second best. There seemed to be little urgency about their play and too many of their key players underperformed. It won't stop them winning the league, but it was a really disappointing showing against their local rivals.
Man City's performance
It was the performance of champions in all honesty. If the likes of Kompany and Aguero had been fit all season, the gap between these two clubs would have been closer. City used the ball extremely well and often found themselves in key areas. It took them until the second half, but they made the most of their chances and then defended extremely stubbornly.
Sports Mole's man of the match
Phil Jones: For someone that has spent long spells on the sidelines this season and has rarely played at centre-back, Jones put in a positive display tonight. He made a number of crucial interceptions and played a role in United levelling up proceedings. If he can stay fit, the young defender would be a real asset for United.
Biggest gaffe
Ryan Giggs has not made many errors this season, but his mistake tonight proved costly. He attempted a back-heel inside his own half which was cut out by Gareth Barry. The ball eventually found Milner, who put the visitors in front.
Referee performance
The Manchester derby is always fiery encounter and towards the end, this one lived up to that reputation. It didn't fluster Mike Dean though, and the man with the whistle put in a really good performance. Yes there were a number of bookings, but all were warranted.

Man United: The Red Devils will attempt to get their Premier League title charge back on track when they visit Stoke City on Sunday afternoon.
Man City: Next up for the Citizens is an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley.
