Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says that the Red Devils "will try to do something" during the January transfer window despite financial restrictions.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said that the Red Devils "will try to do something" during the January transfer window despite their well-documented problems when it comes to the financial regulations.

Financial Fair Play and the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules have left Man United in a situation where they will need to move players on in order to boost their squad before the end of the winter market.

At this moment, the club are said to have 'no budget', but Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee are two players currently being heavily linked with moves away from Old Trafford this month.

Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen, who are both out of contract this summer, can also allegedly leave this month, while it has been claimed that Amorim wants to bring in a new goalkeeper due to the issues of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Amorim, speaking ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool, has said that his club "will try to do something" before the January transfer window closes for business.

"When the window is open, we can try to do something and we will try to do something. But I think, in the next weeks, we are going to have more time to train and we can improve, that's the only way," Amorim told reporters.

"We had a lot of games without training, now we will have more space to grow. You can see that the context is worse in this moment, as we had a lot of losses, so we have to manage everything."

When asked about which positions are in need of strengthening, Amorim said: "I will keep that to myself. But we'll try to do something."

Man United will head to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon looking to recover from four straight defeats, and Amorim has said that his team have "the responsibility to play to win the game".

"In football, [in] one game, anything can happen. If you talk about the season, then, almost every time, the best win. In the moment, they are better than us but we can win any game," the head coach added.

"We have to focus not on the context but on the performance. What we have to do is simple things and I think we have to improve the simple things to play these kind of games. We have the responsibility to play to win the game."

Will Man United sign a forward in January?

It is obvious that Man United would need to bring in an attacker if both Rashford and Zirkzee depart this month, as their exits would leave Rasmus Hojlund as the only first-team centre-forward at the club.

Amorim has allegedly told Man United that he wants a deal for Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres to be completed this month, but it is highly unlikely to occur in January due to the numbers involved.

Paris Saint-Germain's Randal Kolo Muani is also believed to be a loan target, while there have been claims that a spectacular swap deal involving Victor Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, could be agreed, with Rashford potentially heading in the opposite direction.
