Jamie Carragher: 'Pressure on Louis van Gaal, Brendan Rodgers'

Jamie Carragher says that the pressure will be on either Louis van Gaal or Brendan Rodgers if Manchester United or Liverpool lose at Old Trafford this weekend.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that either Louis van Gaal or Brendan Rodgers will be under pressure if their team loses on Saturday.

Manchester United host arch rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford this weekend, with both teams heading into the fixture on the back of defeats.

Van Gaal and Rodgers have guided United and Liverpool respectively to the exact same seven-point mark in the Premier League table, but the Red Devils have a better goal difference.

Carragher told Sky Sports News: "It's early days but on the back of defeats in the last games, and with questions being asked about this season and last season, I think this is a very important game for the clubs - as it always is when these two meet, but I think the game is important for the managers as well, they could both do without a poor defeat really. To lose two on the bounce just adds an added bit of pressure."

United beat Liverpool twice in the league last season.
