Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag calls on the Red Devils to be more "decisive" following Saturday's 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has called on the Red Devils to be more "decisive" if they are to achieve their goals for the 2022-23 campaign.

The 20-time English champions moved into the top four in the Premier League table courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Man United had opportunities to make the breakthrough before Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the 76th minute, but they passed up a number of chances.

Ten Hag has admitted that he was not pleased with his team's performance in the first half of the contest, but the Dutchman saw a huge improvement in the second period.

"It's what you could expect [a difficult game] - new manager, his first home game. They have good players and a good team, so we had to be [on the] front foot but we were not in the first half, I wasn't happy with the performance," Ten Hag told reporters.

"I think the second half was better. We should have scored before half-time, but [we also have to] be ready, be bright, and be decisive.

"You have a game plan but sometimes things are not as we expected. They did well but the good thing is, they didn't create that many chances and we did. But you have to be sharp.

"We had the chances to score that first goal but we didn't score them. At half-time I told the players that with this attitude, you will not win this game. We have to change everyone to deliver 10 per cent more."

Ten Hag also believes that Saturday's victory over Wolves shows that the team are moving in the right direction.

"I think so. We also today created a lot of chances and once again we had a clean sheet, so it shows that we are hard to beat and that this is a team that can defend very disciplined, and we have to keep that process going," the Dutchman added.

"We have a threat in the front line and we have many players who can deliver an end product."

Man United have now only lost once in all competitions since the start of October, while they have been victorious in four of their last five league matches to move into fourth position.

The 20-time English champions will be bidding to continue their strong form when they welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford in the league on Tuesday night.
