Sir Alex Ferguson: 'Continuity, drive keys to success'

Ex-Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson outlines the keys to success for any coach, with the trust and support of an entire club topping his list of priorities.

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has declared that a manager must ensure everyone at the club shares his way of thinking to be successful.

Ferguson believes that new that United manager David Moyes has done the right thing by ensuring he has a coaching staff in place to support his philosophy, despite drawing widespread criticism for the upheaval.

The Scot shared his belief that there are three main keys to success for any coach, with earning the trust and support of an entire club top on the list of his priorities.

Speaking at a UEFA education workshop in Budapest, the ex-Red Devils boss said: "Three things are very important when you are working with them, work ethic, loyalty, philosophy.

"You all have to be singing the same tune, no matter how bad the tune is. It's important that your people agree with you and the way that we at United wanted to play, that was very important.

"My attitude to a game of football, never give in. At half time in a game of football, if you're behind, never give in."

The 71-year-old was back at Old Trafford yesterday for the unveiling of a new road sign, with a street on one side of the stadium renamed Sir Alex Ferguson way in his honour.
