Sir Alex Ferguson reveals that Darren Fletcher is on course to make a comeback for Manchester United in pre-season training.

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Darren Fletcher is on track to be ready to take part in pre-season training this summer for Manchester United.

Reports last week suggested that Fletcher may be forced to retire due to his battle with ulcerative colitis but Ferguson is confident that the midfielder will make a return for the club.

Ferguson said: "We're hoping he will start pre-season training.

"He is on the recovery road at the moment in the sense of some work he is doing.

"Darren's medical people are dealing with it and our doctor has a good idea of the situation but at the moment the boy is doing his best to come back."

Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League.
