Sir Alex Ferguson feels that his Manchester United squad are capable of repeating the club's treble triumph of 1999.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to rule out the possibility of his side winning the treble for a second time.

Under Ferguson's guidance in 1999, United became the first English club to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season - a record that is still in place today.

This time around the Red Devils are four points clear at the top of the Premier League table - with a game in hand - and have cup matches coming up against Fulham and Real Madrid.

Discussing his side's chances of replicating that success of 1999, Ferguson insisted that he has the squad capable of recording such achievements.

"The way to look at it is that we've got great games coming up," he said. "It will be really exciting going to Madrid and having them here. There's the FA Cup tie at home to Fulham.

"It's a brilliant period for the club. This is exactly the situation you want to be in, involved in everything. FA Cup, league, European Cup. Absolutely brilliant. And we've got the squad to do it.

"If you go back to the year we won the treble we got a replay against Chelsea and won there 2-0. We got a replay against Arsenal. The FA Cup's the FA Cup. You expect the unexpected, but you also want to win it because its a great competition."

Ferguson's side take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane tomorrow afternoon.
